85th birthday of Jeunesses Musicales de Belgique

During World War II, Marcel Cuvelier launched the very first "Concert for Youth" at the Centre for Fine Arts in Brussels. A true act of resistance: in the face of the occupier, music became a shield, a breath of freedom. By the end of 1940, nearly 2,000 young people had joined this emerging movement. Over the decades, it quickly crossed borders, expanding from Jeunesses Musicales in Chile to Zimbabwe. Today, 85 years later, this international network is recognised by UNESCO as the world's largest organisation dedicated to introducing young people to music.

Relive this incredible journey in the heart of the Henry Le Boeuf Hall, the very place where it all began 85 years ago, almost to the day.

To celebrate this legacy, Danish composer, performer, producer, and educator Rune Thorsteinsson joins forces with Belgian musicians and ensembles from diverse backgrounds. Together, they will offer an interactive and immersive concert.
